When Nothing Needs Fixing

Yesterday, I found myself reflecting on something that stayed with me long after a conversation had ended.

It wasn't about a remarkable technique or a breakthrough.

It was about presence.

I was reminded how rare it is to have someone sit with us without trying to change us.

No rushing to make us feel better.

No searching for the right words.

No trying to solve the problem.

Just someone who is genuinely there.

One of the things I keep discovering, both in my work and in my own life, is how powerful it can be when someone simply stays with us.

Without trying to fix us.

Without trying to make the feeling go away.

Just staying present.

Sometimes that alone seems to create enough space for something inside to soften.

Not because anyone made it happen.

But because there is finally enough safety for us to be exactly where we are.

The more I do this work, the more I find myself appreciating the quiet power of simply being present.

Not as something passive, but as something deeply alive.

A way of saying, I'm here with you.

I've also noticed that these moments often leave a lasting impression on me.

Not because something dramatic happened.

But because they remind me of what we, as human beings, so often long for.

To feel seen.

To feel heard.

To know that we don't have to carry everything on our own.

Perhaps that is something we all long for.

And perhaps it is also something we can gradually learn to offer ourselves.

To stay with ourselves a little longer.

To listen a little more gently.

To trust that sometimes, nothing needs fixing before healing can begin.
